The Cabin Games crew took over the Rendevous last Thursday... and brought out extended family to rock the stage including Specs Wizard, Asun and Julie C, Rainwater Conglomerate, Yirim Seck, Ampfire, Wizdumb, Merm & Malsaint, and Wojack, all of whom turned out stellar sets.
Around 1:30 am, the baton was passed to Kung Foo Grip, with Fish unleashing a 3 minute acapella verse that reminded the crowd why he's one of Seattle's premier young lyricists. He and Greg Cypher then launched into a raucous 20 minute display of rocket fueled pugilism, treating show goers with an anthem-packed set featuring hits from their every growing catalog.
Then the man of the hour, Silas Blak, appeared and proceeded to pour gasoline on the pulpit, fierce-eyed, circling the stage like a lean and hungry predator. Blak's performance - despite being cut short due to the venue's time constraints - was a fierce spectacle of lyrical prowess and stage presence that held the crowd's devoted attention. While frequent Cabin-collaborator Able Fader held down the decks, host Chris G repeatedly reminded the artists/industry-types in the crowd to build, promote and cross pollinate with each other in order to truly strengthen our local scene.
